Elemental RP1: Road Legal Track Car

If it’s the go kart-esque experience you desire, but you don’t feel like making daily trips to the batting cages, perhaps you should graduate to the big leagues with a track-focused sports car like the Elemental RP1.

This two-seater isn’t looking to wow you with its creature comforts. Instead, it whoas you with its design. A carbon fiber tub lies underneath the bodywork for protection, while the aluminum frame sections offer easy access to the vehicle’s mechanical elements. The car will be offered with three engine choices: a custom-tuned 2.0 liter Ford Ecoboost engine (280 hp), a 1.0 liter Ecoboost engine, or a 999cc motorcycle engine from the Honda Fireblade. The 2.0 liter is expected to hit top speed of 155 mph. Other goodies include a programmable digital dash, active aerodynamics, and a strong braking system thanks to Caparo AP four-piston calipers and large-diameter vented discs putting the stops on 17-inch lightweight Pro Race wheels. Full scale production is scheduled to begin next year. No word on a price.
