Edrington Macallan Whisky Distillery

In what looks to be one of most exquisite distilleries ever built, Edrington unveiled their $187 million headquarters and visitor center in Speyside for The Macallan. The project serves as a portion of the $669 million investment the Scotland-based spirits company invested into The Macallan with the visitor experience opening its doors next month.

By early estimates, the new distillery – located in the Easter Elchies estate – will allow The Macallan to up their production by about a third while the factory itself will remain partially hidden thanks to its geodesic roof mimicking the surrounding rolling hills of the Speyside region. The new facility also houses upwards of 36 copper stills, a tasting library featuring over 952 historic bottles of The Macallan, and the entire facility is slated to garner 95% of its energy requirements from renewable sources.
