ECCO EXOSTRIKE Dyneema Boots
No one is pushing the limit like ECCO. The Danish shoe manufacturer is better known for more formal footwear, but in the past year or so they’ve been challenging themselves to find more creative applications for one material in particular – leather. In May of last 2017 they released a transparent leather jacket dubbed the Apparition. This year? They’re rolling out a Dyneema-bonded leather for their ECCO EXOSTRIKE boots.
This material, despite being incredibly light, is up to five times stronger than any other on the market. That means that the already tough leather upper is even more resistant to rips, tears, and abrasion – all without actually feeling heavier. In addition to the exciting new upper material, the boots boast a proprietary midsole developed with PHORENE that offers even weight distribution and energy return. All things said, the boot has a kind of urban-meets outdoor look to it that, combined with its ultra strong upper material, may help make this one of the most consequential releases of the year. These are expected to hit the broader market in the fall of 2018, with a limited release expected sometime this April at brick and mortar stores.
