With technical apparel and athleisure reaching what feels like the peak of their popularity, we have been wondering; where do clothing brands go from here? An unlikely brand has put forward a compelling answer to that question. Introducing the ECCO Apparition Jacket.
For the past three years the brand maybe best known for making golfing shoes has been hard at work in their research and development facility in the Netherlands trying to find a way to make leather as pliable and dynamic as synthetic materials. They eventually achieved this goal by using a combination of ancient Greek and Egyptian tanning techniques with modern tools. More than just creating a more dynamic material, they have essentially created a new class of leather. The Apparition Jacket is the first practical application of the new material – and it boasts not only a dynamic fit and hefty water resistance, but a surprisingly broad range of colors. No word on where or if you can purchase these pieces – but we hope to see more products made with this new process soon.
