We’ve entered a modern-day muscle car renaissance in which EVs are performing some seriously impressive feats, clocking sub-two-second 0-60mph times and taking horsepower outputs into uncharted territory on the regular. Not only that but the increasing adoption of electric drivetrains has also meant that many classic cars are getting a new lease on life.
Just take E-Legend’s EL1, for instance. At first glance, it’s pretty evident that this isn’t just any electric upstart; it’s a re-imagination of the iconic Audi S1. Because let’s face it. From the boxy bodywork to the tapered rear hatch, everything about the car oozes Quattro inspiration — even down to the rally-inspired five-spoke wheels. But here’s the kicker: it’ll run rings around your 80s Group B racer. With a three-motor drivetrain and a 90kWh battery pack, the EL1 is set to produce an astounding 804hp and 248mi of range. And while it has yet to hit the road, E-Legend estimates that it’ll be capable of a 2.8s 0-62mph time and a sub-10 0-124mph time, with enough juice to lap the Nürburgring twice even when driving flat-out in SportPlus mode. However, with only 30 models being produced, it’ll be pricey at €890,000 (~$1,062,000) before tax. Check it out below.
