Though he doesn’t have the household name-recognition, Don Yenko is — for all intents and purposes — to Chevrolet what Carroll Shelby is to Ford. And while his Corvette sports cars are already rare and highly sought-after, this particular example — a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Sunray DX L88 — is even more special because it was race-driven by Yenko himself.
Of course, the fact that Don Yenko drove this in the 24 Hours of Daytona — in which it placed second in class — is only one of the things that makes it so significant. It’s also one of just three of these vehicles ever built, was also race-driven by Peter Revson and Pedro Rodriguez, has been completely restored (along with its 1968 Sebring livery), is remarkably well-documented, and boasts a massive 560-horsepower output. Furthermore, this very car set a GT-class lap record at the 1968 Sebring 12 Hours endurance race. Perhaps best of all, this beautiful and historical race car is up for sale — but you’ll have to call for the price.
