Take In The Majesty Of Norway’s Fjords & Valleys From This Observation Deck
Headquartered out of Vardø, Norway, Biotope is an incredibly unique architectural firm with a focus on connecting people with nature through producing cabins and buildings in remote, picturesque locales that highlight and capitalize on the surrounding landscape. Most recently, Biotope erected an observation building perched atop the ridgeline of Kongsfjord, Finnmark in Norway.
Rather than creating a fully-enclosed structure, the so-called Domen Viewpoint is comprised of three connected rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass windows on one side and a completely exposed opening on the other. The idea of the project is to give hikers, adventurers, and other alpine enthusiasts a brief bit of refuge from the mountaintop elements while also providing incredible views of the Fjords and valleys that encompass the building. The Domen Viewpoint’s competition and opening were also scheduled to coincide with the arrival of what Biotope calls the “white winter of Vardø.” To learn more about the Domen Viewpoint or to check out any previous projects from Biotope, you can visit the Norwegian firm’s website linked below.
