Well done Dodge. Here’s a first glance at the American auto company’s righteous response to the new Ford SVT Raptor. It’s an off-road monster, complete with a Hellcat engine under the hood that’ll do some serious damage off the asphalt. The concept, known as the Ram Rebel TRX, was just unveiled at the Texas State Fair and looks to soon garner a serious following nationwide.
The vehicle uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that’s been calibrated to handle off-road driving, resulting in a 575hp Ram, a full 125 more than its Raptor competitor, and is enough to get you going over 100 mph in the backcountry terrain. The TRX also features an electronic locking differential in the rear and an updated version of the 4×4 Performance Control System catering to a variety of road conditions, including a Baja mode that will break triple digits driving through the desert. It sits upon massive 37-inch tires and the suspension is raised 13-inches all around.
The body is also six inches wider than the standard Ram, hosts a vented and scooped hood, and Dodge threw in an LED light bar on top of the truck for good measure. And if that wasn’t enough, the interior of the truck is complete with leather, suede, and carbon fiber, while the front seats house racing harnesses and nylon door pulls instead of regular handles. Currently, it’s just a one-off concept but with enough attention, Dodge could be rolling these out in the very near future.
