Based on Stephen King’s popular novel, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining is one of the most iconic horror movies of all time. And now the book’s sequel from 2013, Doctor Sleep, has its film adaptation. Picking up decades after the original, Doctor Sleep finds a grown-up Danny Torrance trying to protect a young girl who shares his psychic abilities from a cult known as The True Knot.
The trailer for Doctor Sleep showcases the talented Ewan McGregor as Danny, who’s still troubled by the gruesome events at the Overlook Hotel, as he tries to climb toward sobriety. It also gives you a few shots of the recreated moments and sets from Kubrick’s classic, including glimpses of Room 237 and the infamous twins. In the captain’s seat for this film is a very capable director named Mike Flanagan, who gave us the chilling-yet-touching The Haunting of Hill House series on Netflix. Joining McGregor for this film are Rebecca Ferguson, Kyleigh Curran, Carl Lumbly, and Alex Essoe. On November 8, audiences will get a chance to revisit the infamous hotel as Danny’s demons return.
