DIY Replica Leica Camera Made From Poster

Dec 26, 2013

Building your own camera sounds like the kind of thing you’d only do if you found yourself trapped in a camera factory—with an instruction booklet. Save the hassle of hiding out in the janitor’s closet and check out this acrylic poster that turns into a replica Leica camera.

This DIY promotional kit was created by by designer Marcelo Ribeiro (of Saatchi & Saatchi Brazil) to celebrate Leica’s first camera, and word has it the plan was originally to send these kits to anyone who purchased a camera in Leica’s M series this year; unfortunately that idea was scrapped. Of course, once completed it’s not a functional camera, but we doubt that’d detract from the pride and joy you’d feel from putting it together—and for not hiding in a janitor’s closet.
