The video-streaming service wars are officially in full swing with the announcement of pricing, a launch date, and some details on content from media monster Disney. The streaming service appears poised to take a big bite out of Netflix’s substantial subscription base.
The upcoming streaming service will bless viewers with classic content from Disney as well as new tv shows and movies from their other properties like Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar. And that only appears to be the tip of the content iceberg, as Disney has taken exclusive rights to all 30 seasons of The Simpsons as well. The company plans to spend $1 billion on original content in 2020 and expects to produce 50 original shows annually within five years. Disney+ is scheduled to launch November 12 for $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year.
