Back before the days of WFH, slippers were a pretty simple piece of footwear — little more than some thin foam slapped together with a cozy upper. However, now that they’re among the more staple elements of our everyday rotation, it’s becoming increasingly important that we design them to do more than keep our toes toasty.
Just take this offering from Deckers X Lab, for instance. Dubbed the ‘KO-Z Mule,’ it’s effectively the brand’s take on a classic open-backed clog, albeit with some added performance provisions. For instance, Deckers has used a combination of twinface sheepskin and suede leather for the upper, with a pair of wooden toggles to keep things snug. And when it comes to the midsole, the KO-Z Mule features five different layers of foam, with the softest amongst them seated right beneath your foot. Paired with a rockered midfoot geometry as well as an extended squaretail at the rear, they’re not just incredibly cushioned but also plenty supportive through each step.
