David Coggins is a renowned New York-based writer with a knack for covering whiskey, men’s fashion, travel, and fly fishing. So when heritage footwear brand, Rancourt & Co. was recently looking to create a new boat shoe, the company turned to the Minnesota-born author and outdoorsman for help, ultimately leading to a limited-edition collaboration between Coggins and Rancourt that resulted in a custom-designed shoe.
The Coggins Boat Shoe is built atop an outsole made from French-sourced all-natural rubber and features leather mid-soles, heavy-duty, waterproof leather laces, and uppers crafted from Horween’s Carolina Brown Chromexcel — the same ultra-lightweight and water-resistant leather often found on high-end motorcycle riding gear — that naturally molds and forms to the contours of your specific feet after only a short break-in time. Taking inspiration from the Men and Style author’s journeys to “the Low Country,” these top-shelf boat shoes are handcrafted by Rancourt’s renowned team of boot-makers in Lewiston, Maine, utilizing genuine hand-sewn moccasin construction, enabling them to stand up to a lifetime of use. What’s more, these unlined, custom-crafted boat shoes are incredibly comfortable and supportive, and afford excellent traction, even on wet or slippery surfaces. Available now in limited numbers exclusively through our friends over at Huckberry, the David Coggins x Rancourt & Co. Maine Boat Shoe is priced at $315.
