There once was a time when outerwear capable of surviving a mountain ascent was as ugly as it was functional — especially in regards to hiking boots. Now, however, more and more stylish examples are popping up that are practically indistinguishable from sleek streetwear alternatives. Their numbers have just grown a bit more, too, thanks to a collaboration between two legendary brands — Danner and Snow Peak — and their Trail Field Pro boots.
Based on a silhouette that dates back to the 1960s — the same one on which Danner’s Mountain Trail and Mountain Light are based — this new interpretation adds some stylistic flair to the iconic outdoor boot. That includes red metal lace clips and hooks on both color options (all-black and tan with gray outsoles) and two matching lace options (solid or two-tone) for each colorway. Of course, these boots are still plenty capable with a premium leather construction, Vibram outsoles, and GORE-TEX waterproof uppers — so you can wear them in any locale, regardless of weather conditions or the roughness of the terrain. Available through Danner Japan, these boots are priced at $256 a pair.
