While boots are obviously your best bet for extended outdoor excursions, hiking shoes make for an excellent alternative when you’re in need of something a bit lighter and nimbler. That being said, because of their limited waterproofing provisions, they’re typically an option best reserved for spring and summer.
Danner, however, feels otherwise. This fall, the Oregon-based boot brand will be launching an all-weather update to its Trail 2650 Campo called the ‘Trail 2650 Campo GTX.’ The shoe will be Danner’s first to feature GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology, an addition that uses a specially-developed bonded membrane for superior breathability and a sock-like fit, all the while ensuring complete waterproofing. What’s more, it retains both the EXO Heel System as well as the Vibram Megagrip outsole of the standard model, offering an added level of security with some confident all-terrain traction to boot. Reinforced with PU-coated leather and riding on a lightweight PlyoGo EVA midsole, it promises to be as durable as it is comfortable. Oh, and it’ll even offer gaiter-compatibility should you really want to level up your protection from the elements. It’ll be available in autumn of 2021 for $190.
