Originally founded by a pair of brothers in 1927, Damen Yachting is one of the world’s leading shipbuilders, with a steadily-growing portfolio of world-class superyachts that includes ocean research vessels built for James Cameron and a state-of-the-art fleet of made-to-order ice-class ships. And after a lengthy construction process, Damen has just unveiled its newest vessel with the SeaXplorer 105.
Penned in collaboration with Azure Yacht Design, the new 345’ (or 105-meter) ship is the latest evolution in the company’s ice-breaker-hulled range of SeaXplorers and is the largest thus far. This icebreaking Polar Class ship is powered by a hybrid diesel-electric powertrain with Azimuthing thrusters drives and retractable stabilizer fins. Boasting a beam of 56’ and a gross tonnage of 6,500, the SeaXplorer 105 can cruise at speeds of 16 knots and offers a range of 8,000 nautical miles, allowing for near unlimited arctic adventure possibilities. Crewed by 28 sailors, plus a captain and a dozen additional staff, the superyacht has five-star accommodations for 24 guest, as well as a massive beach club, an indoor pool and spa, an observation lounge, and space for four full-sized tenders, two helicopters, and a myriad of other toys.
