CRKT Rune Tactical Axe

The Columbia River Knife & Tool Company has a pretty forward-facing method of product development. They’re always trying to come up with better designs and take the next technological step with their gear. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t have any respect or admiration for the past. In fact, one of their newest products – the Rune tactical axe – is actually based on ancient Nordic weaponry.

Designed by Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical, this hatchet is the perfect blend of classic style and modern functionality. Based on weapons that existed before gunpowder, this handheld blade’s design is about as versatile as they come. The handle allows for traditional swings, but the shape of the head also allows for use as a precision cutting and slicing tool. It also features a pick on the reverse side of the head for piercing and boring work. The modern infusion comes first with its build materials. This axe is made from black powder coated SK5 carbon steel, the handle is glass reinforced nylon, and it comes with a MOLLE compatible glass reinforced nylon sheath. You can get your hands on this tiny-but-mighty battle axe for $150. [Purchase]
