In 2019, Converse reintroduced one of its most iconic basketball sneakers — the Chuck Taylor All-Star — with the announcement and subsequent release of the Pro BB. A year later, the brand is already slated to release an elaborate update to the shoe — an ultra-light, low-profile model known as the All Star BB Evo.
Converse’s newest project arrives as a heritage-inspired sneaker that adopts some of the brand’s most cutting-edge technologies. As a result, the BB Evo straddles the line between contemporary, on-court variants, and the well-designed icons of yesteryear, affording its wearer far more than a “great-looking” pair of sneakers. To start, the brand has reduced the shoe’s high-top upper, replacing it with a smaller iteration. Below, a mesh and diamond textile give the shoe a more breathable (and light) demeanor than its predecessor. For those who are interested in the Evo’s high-performance qualities, you’ll be delighted to hear that a cushioned React foam midsole and diamond-lug outsole have been incorporated, making it inherently responsive, comfortable, and dependable on a variety of different surfaces. Head to Converse’s website on August 1 to pick up a pair of your own for $120.
