It isn’t everyday that you get to come across a great new bag maker. Too often companies go after utility so hard that they overload their pack with too many compartments and tools, while other times you see teams lose themselves while chasing the latest trend. Colfax Design Works, a small operation based out of Southern California, isn’t one of those companies and their newest offering the SDP_01 Pack is not just another bag.
Every part of this rolltop pack, from the compartment design to the materials used to construct them, were carefully considered to ensure that the bag would stand up to the demands of getting from point A to point B day after day and week after week. One of the big stand-out features on the bag is actually the material it’s made out of; an x51 1000D Cordura fabric with an X-ply layer and laminated PET waterproof membrane. Not only does this configuration make the bag weatherproof and essentially bomb-proof, the resulting look imbues it with a kind of uncanny quality. That being said, this isn’t the only thing that distinguishes this bag. The rolltop is outfitted with a top access zippered sleeve that can serve as laptop compartment while room is made for a hydration system in the main 21 liter compartment so you can keep your thirst quenched on longer weekend joy rides. Those types of jaunts out in the city are also made easy thanks to anti-fatigue shoulder straps, removable sternum strap, and molle webbing for strapping on modular units for extra storage space. All things said, it’s an American-made bag that’ll last a lifetime and that you’ll be happy to strap on for just as long. Prices are set at $345. [Purchase: Black | Camo]
