Surge Soda Returns
Surge soda may have not been the best business move for Coca-Cola, considering it was taken off retail shelves just 5 years after hitting the market, but that doesn’t change the fact that we loved the sugary concoction. Apparently we weren’t alone, and the beverage giant has decided to re-release the nineties soft drink due to popular demand (huge thanks to the “Surge Movement” Facebook campaign).
Originally developed under the moniker “Mountain Dew Killer,” Surge was one of, if not the coolest pop of the 1990s. Unfortunately we didn’t get to drink as much of it as we would have liked, and that’s only because our parents weren’t particularly pleased with the fully-loaded citrus soda with “carbos” – see 56g of sugar on the can’s current nutrition facts. Surge will be sold exclusively through Amazon, with a 12-pack of 16-ounce cans retailing for $14. If the cans sell well through the e-commerce behemoth, it’s only a matter of time before you see that nostalgic green can on local shelves again. [Purchase]
