Chris Burkard’s Adventure Van
Ever since famed adventure photographer and traveler Chris Burkard was a kid, he and his grandfather would take yearly road trips across the western United States – exploring wonderments such as the Sierras in California to Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park to other more remote regions of the Rockies and the desert Southwest.
What did all these trips have in common you make ask? Well, Burkard’s grandfather always managed to rent a van for each journey instilling within a young Chris the tenets of quality over quantity; nature over possessions. So, it’s no surprise the photographer decided to commission Santa Cruz-based The Advanture Company to build the ultimate travel van. Here, we have a stealthy-looking Mercedes Sprinter customized just for Burkard featuring amenities such as a 50-inch LED light bar up front, solar power setup, custom roof rack, Thule storage, custom bed setup, windows curtains, premium sound package, cabinet package and a removable table for dining in style. It’s a fine iteration of their Nomad setup, based on a 4×4 Mercedes Sprinter Van, and one of several options available through the aftermarket builder.
