Under the heading of Another Reason Not to Trade in Your PlayStation 3 comes this news from Chevrolet: The automaker has designed a concept car for Gran Turismo 6 that’s inspired by – here we go – spaceships.

It’s called the Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Tursimo (VGT) and it was designed by both Chevrolet Research and Development and Chaparral Racing, with the kicker being a “mid-mounted laser beamed-energy propulsion system, which pulses beams of light that focus in a shroud, creating shockwaves that generate tremendous thrust.” Just how tremendous is that thrust? Try 900 horsepower, an in-game speed of 240 miles per hour, and 0-60 in 1.5 seconds. Oh, and one more thing: You don’t sit in it, you lie face down with your arms and legs spread towards the wheels. So yeah, maybe concept is where this one will stay, huh? Look for the Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Tursimo as downloadable content soon.
