Chainmail may be great for body armor, but can a pair of chainmail shoes really be that comfortable? Well we’re about to find out thanks to the design team at Gost.

The German based company has built these chainmail shoes constructed from interlinked rings of stainless steel just like you would see on a medieval knight. Called the PaleoBarefoots, this minimalist footwear offers great protection, and nice breathability, but were not designed for roads or concrete surfaces. Rather the shoe is meant to be a “caveman” like experience, wearing these on your next outdoor excursion through grassy fields or mountainous terrain. The major drawback here is that these things are pretty expensive at around $250.
