In the off chance that you aren’t already familiar, Casio’s line of G-Shock watches are some of the toughest most capable timekeepers on the planet. And a lot of their ruggedness is due to Casio’s continuing dedication to innovation. Keeping that trend alive, the brand has just introduced another big technological step forward in their Rangeman watch.

Available in two versions, the GPR-B1000-1 and GPR-B1000-1B, these new timepieces are the world’s first solar-assisted GPS watches ever made. Both of them can be charged wirelessly for day-to-day use, but – if you’re out on the trails and your battery power dips below the normal threshold for the onboard GPS to work – the solar capability kicks in to let you continue to track your journey. On top of that, these watches also feature some smartphone capability – including Bluetooth connectivity, as well as smartphone and app compatibility. They also over 200m water resistance, worldwide time server data reception, and all the other things that make G-Shock watches possibly the toughest in the world. Prices have yet to be announced, so keep your ear to the ground if you want to know more.
