Job Description
Location: San Diego, CA

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, hands­ on visual expert, who thrives in a creative and fast paced environment. You should be prepared for high volume photographic workflows, and the ability to stay on target in terms of the quality of imagery produced.

The Photo Editor will work directly with the Art Director & Editorial Team to help select/produce compelling images for the HiConsumption website, e-commerce shop and social media platforms across all verticals. This includes researching photography for editorial content, leveraging stock/existing photography along with public domain.

You’ll also be responsible for maintaining photographic style guides and assisting in creative planning and production for a variety of editorial/e-commerce shoots, all while tracking deliverables to ensure that deadlines are met. You must possess the ability to work within a creative organization while embracing new experiences and taking direction well. This a great entry level position for the individual looking to break into the digital publishing/e-commerce space.

Responsibilities

  • Provide image retouching, clipping paths, resizing/reformatting and additional image manipulation for both product and lifestyle photography
  • Prepare images for online publishing, which includes editorial, e-commerce shop and social media platforms
  • Follow a development timeline/editorial calendar to ensure tasks are being completed on time
  • Create composite style guides that are cohesive with current brand aesthetic
  • Create PDFs for internal documents

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in photography or a related field
  • Proficient in entire Adobe Creative Suite
  • 3+ years photography experience
  • Basic knowledge of lighting/composition, image post processing/clipping and color correction
  • Knowledge of file extensions (JPG, PNG, PSD, EPS, TIF, etc)
  • Basic understanding of web design/wireframes
  • A willingness to work odd hours and put in additional time as the assignment/editorial schedule dictates
  • Must meet deadlines and have strong prioritization & time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable receiving constructive criticism
  • Loves working in a team environment
  • A highly organized, detail-oriented approach to work
  • Experience multitasking and tracking several projects simultaneously
  • Strong, creative eye for images along with a that will tell the story and visually sell in both a digital/print environment
  • Good layout skills and a keen eye for design
  • Passion for well-designed, well-built gear
