To this day, Al Capone’s name carries weight as one of the most notorious American gangsters of all time, resulting in the creation of various biopics, documentaries, and films revolving around his likeness. Now, Director Josh Trank has decided to wade in the torrent of films spotlighting the infamous crime boss with his new film, Capone.
Instead of focusing on the protagonist’s rise to fame, Capone centers on the Chicago mob leader at the age of 47, emphasizing his recollection of the past and the atrocities that he had committed. After being charged for tax evasion in 1932, Capone, played by actor Tom Hardy, finds himself in the throes of dementia nearly ten years later, struggling excessively with his demons. Alongside Hardy, actors Linda Cardellini, Matt Dillon, Kyle MacLachlan, and Jack Lowden comprise the film’s all-star cast, serving as the various acquaintances and important figures throughout the crime lord’s complicated history. Look for the film to make its streaming debut on May 12.
