Shooting great photos is hard. Shooting great photos with flash? Sometimes it can be even more difficult. Not only do you have to find the right angle to bounce your flash with, but you have to remember to maintain that with different framing throughout your photo shoot. Or at least that was the case before Canon released their stunning new 470EX-AI.

A world’s first, this flash unit from the famed camera company is designed to intuit the best flash angle for capturing evenly lit, natural looking flash photos. Once connected to your camera, it fires off two flashes – one straight forward, and one straight upwards – and then works with your camera to determine the best angle. Once the flash finds the right setting, it’ll remember it as you move in or out, or change the framing. More advanced photographers can set their own angle and get the flash unit to stick to the same angle, too. And the best part about it? This new capability doesn’t bloat the price tag all that much.

Purchase: $400
