Motorcycle manufacturer Bultaco announced its return to the market last year, but didn’t bring any news about any new motorbikes. Now, it appears as though Bultaco will release an electric bicycle, instead.
The Bultaco Brinco electric bike takes Bultacos electric powertrain technology found in its motorcycles and shrinks it down to size for bicycles, which is why Bultaco is calling it the world’s first “moto-bike” — half motorcycle, half bicycle. The electric bike sports a rear wheel-mounted 2-kW motor and a downtube-secured 1.3-kWh lithium-ion battery. It has three riding modes: Eco, Tour and Sport. Eco mode gives the rider up to 800 watts and up to around 50 miles of electric-assisted pedaling, Tour mode gives 31 miles with a motor output at 1,500 watts, and Sport mode unleashes the full 2,000 watts of motor power, hitting a top speed of 37 mph.
