If you want to experience how fast a bullet travels, getting into a hypercar and stomping on the accelerator will give you an idea. These track-blazing machines are always looking to out-do each other, but a customized edition of the Bugatti Chiron Sport stole the top speed crown recently.
Although Bugatti mentioned that it’s not interested in chasing top speed runs, the company went ahead and took the thrown with their one-off beast. The special Bugatti Chiron Sport made a record-breaking run, blasting to a maximum velocity of 304.77mph. With the help of Dallara and Michelin, the modified hypercar, which is almost 10 inches longer than the standard model, broke the 300mph barrier. Bugatti ditched the rear wing and air-take to incorporate a fixed part at the rear that reduces drag. There’s also a laser-controlled ride height to allow the automatically adjustable suspension to reduce the amount of drag even more. And under the hood is a quad-turbo 8.0-liter engine with an extraordinary 1,578-horsepower output, all-wheel-drive system, and Ricardo seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Le Mans winner Andy Wallace reached the top speed on August 2, 2019 on the test track at Ehra-Lessien.
