Last year, Bahrain Raid Xtreme — or “BRX” — introduced the rally world to the “Hunter,” a Prodrive-developed rally raid machine penned by auto design legend, Ian Callum. The Hunter ran into problems at its inaugural running of the Dakar Rally, and later in the year, Sebastien Loeb was within just miles of claiming he and BRX’s first-ever Baja win before technical issues took Loeb and his ride out of the race. Taking lessons from their previous missteps, BRX and Prodrive have now debuted their new and improved version of the Hunter T1+ that’s slated to take on the 2022 Dakar Rally.
Now riding on a wider track, the T1+ version has been bestowed with larger 17” off-road wheels shod in beefier 37” all-terrain tires, a revised suspension setup with 2.7” of additional travel, bigger, up-specced brakes, and lighter on-board jacks that are easier to access and are now powered via an electric pump. The bodywork has also been tweaked by Callum, now 12” wider and fitted with a larger windshield. With its larger wheels and tires and bolstered suspension travel, the Hunter T1+ actually stands a realistic chance of winning its class at the next Dakar Rally.
