Breitling’s Surf-Inspired Watch Honors The Original ’57 SuperOcean Diver

Way back in 1957, the Swiss watchmakers at Breitling released their very first SuperOcean, a nautical dive watch that would become a staple of their lineup through today. Now, to honor that game-changing timepiece and the freewheeling surf spirit of the 1960s, they’re releasing a modern redux called the Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57.

While still boasting enough water-resistance that you could, theoretically, take it out on the water or wear it surfing, this watch is really more of a style piece than a true diver. It’s marked by a pair of stylistic elements that set it apart from its brethren — namely a concave ceramic bidirectional rotating bezel and oversized easy-to-read indices. On top of that, it is offered with a number of case material options, including both stainless steel and 18k rose gold, and is paired with your choice of a mesh or calfskin leather strap (with a number of available colorways therein). And the whole thing is powered by a Breitling 10 in-house automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Available for preorder now, pricing ranges from $4,380 up to $5,225.
