Breitling knows a thing or two about making watches tough enough for wearing in the field, or high in the sky. Ever since the 1940s the brand has been rolling out timepieces tough and accurate enough to be worn by military operators. Now, to celebrate that heritage, the brand is releasing the limited Breitling Avenger Hurricane Military watch.
This 50mm timepiece features a black dial with Arabic numerals, and a trio of subdials set at 6, 12, and 18 hours (the watch tells military time). Those three dials, along with the luminescent-coated trio of hands, are driven by the watch’s Caliber B12 self-winding chronograph movement – which can keep ticking up to 100m under water. But that isn’t even the coolest part of this watch. What really sets it apart is the watch’s case material made from a special proprietary material that makes it lighter than titanium, yet substantially stronger than most steel cases you’ll come across. Only 1,000 have been made available to the public.
