Crossovers occupy a weird niche within the auto world, taking the spacious practicality of an SUV and pairing it with the streamlined footprint of a coupé. As such, a crossover can skew either towards sporty performance vehicle or towards sluggish grocery getter. By outfitting the X2 with a slew of styling upgrades, BMW’s message is loud and clear — this compact crossover is no slouch.
Dressed in bold orange decals and sitting on eye-catching 19-inch rims, the X2 M Mesh flaunts its racy new digs with pride. As part of this special edition series, the X2 gains the front fascia of the M Sport X package, as well as its dark exterior trim. But that’s not all — it also features elements from the Shadowline and Extended Shadowline packages. Inside, it comes with a set of M Sport seats from the X2 M35i, as well as a number of other adornments such as ‘Edition’ sill plates, aluminum hexagon trim, and an M Sport steering wheel fitted with paddle shifters. Powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, the X2 sDrive28i and xDrive28i models will do 0-60mph in 6.6s and 6.3s respectively. The package costs $3,550 on top of the $36,600 and $38,600 starting prices for each model.
