One of the greatest burdens of any electric vehicle is making sure it’s charged come morning. Now, with the new BMW Wireless Charging station, ensuring your 530e iPerformance sedan remains charged overnight will be as simple as parking it in the garage.

It’s all thanks to this new device that functions like a Qi pad for the vehicle and utilizes groundbreaking charging technology via electric energy transmitted to the vehicle’s high-voltage battery without the need for any cables. Simply park the car over the GroundPad and charging will initiate without any further action from the driver. It features a charging power of 3.2 kW and an efficiency rate of 85 percent that allows a full charge in just 3.5 hours and turns off automatically once a full charge has been met. Plus, a Control Display on the dash ensures you’re correctly parked atop the GroundPad each and every time. Production slated for July 2018.
