When the BMW Link Scooter Concept debuted back in 2017, electric vehicles were on the verge of a pivotal point in their history. At the time, they were still seen as a novelty, with far-out design studies and high-powered hypercars commanding most of the limelight. However, the auto industry has since come to grips with its electrified future, and the way forward looks all the brighter.
With the announcement of the Concept Definition CE 04 scooter, BMW reaffirms its commitment to electric mobility at a time when EVs are hotter than ever. (Hell, just look at the Tesla Model 3 — it’s among the 10 best-selling cars in the US.) Visually, the Definition CE 04 retains much of the design from the concept, with a low-slung profile and an angular front end. Its flat battery has been mounted in the underbody, giving the rider access to a side-mounted storage unit capable of holding a helmet, a laptop bag, and a number of other essentials. When it comes to the cockpit, the Definition CE 04 features a 10.25-inch display that connects to the rider’s smartphone. Although BMW Motorrad has yet to go into detail on the powertrain, you can expect the series-production vehicle to look very similar.
