CarBahn Autoworks Treats The BMW M8 Comp A 1,000HP, 200+MPH Upgrade

Steve Dinan is one of the all-time most legendary names in BMW tuning circles, founding Dinan Cars back in 1979 and then spending the intervening years producing multi-stage upgrade kits and Dinan-spec takes on existing models from the Bavarian brand. Most recently, Steve has taken his four decades of experience and used this knowledge and unparalleled expertise to launch a performance brand known as CarBahn Autoworks.

As the Dinan-backed firm’s monicker would suggest, CarBahn focuses its attention exclusively on high-performance German-built models including BMW’s M range, Audi’s S and RS-specs, and Mercedes’ AMG cars, as well as several models from Porsche. To kick things off, CarBahn has debuted four upgrade packages for the BMW M8 and M8 Competition called the GT, GTS, GTC, and GTR. These kits include up-specced suspension packages, upgraded forced induction systems, a top speed governor delete that unlocks 200mph+ speeds, and new tires and wheelsets, just to name a few. The use of more advanced turbochargers, new ECUs, and race-inspired exhaust systems allow the M8 Competition’s 617hp 4.4L V8 to put down as much as 1,000hp (when equipped with the $43,000 GTC package).
