With the smartwatch being on everyone’s gift list this year, BLOCKS Wearables has designed the world’s first modular smartwatch (which they’ve simply named BLOCKS).
The strap is made of several modules that all serve different functions, and they can be customized to fit your specific needs. Choose from the modules available and connect them together to create your watch’s band. Available modules include an extra battery, heart rate monitor, GPS module, NFC Contactless module, and an adventure module that measures altitude, pressure and temperature. What’s more, the creators have more modules in the works, including a sim card, fingerprint scanner, LED torch, and a programmable button. Of course, the smartwatch’s core, itself, includes phone notifications, activity tracking, a color touch screen, voice control, WiFi, Bluetooth, and haptic feedback. Each module is hot swappable, so you can easily swap in a battery module if you notice that your smartwatch is running low on juice. It’s available now on Kickstarter for an early backer price of $250. [Purchase]
