Black Bowmore 50-Year Whisky

Anyone familiar with Black Bowmore Scotch is familiar with their most prized collection consisting of several releases of a batch of whisky that’s been aged in Sherry casks since November 5, 1964. Since then, the distillery has released four batches of this whisky in the subsequent years, beginning in 1994. Now, the fifth and final installment of the collection has arrived – their 50-year vintage – the last remaining whisky from that legendary distillation.

It spent over 50 years in No. 1 Vaults, the world’s oldest Scotch maturation warehouse, and is infused with the sweet subtleties of Oloroso sherry casks. And because of how it was aged, the whisky now boasts a black pearl appearance coupled with that aromatic peat smoke that makes Islay Scotch so unique. It’s also rumored this 50-year hosts a hint of tropical fruit and black truffle on the palate as well, only adding to what we can assume is one fine pour for the low price of $19,600 per bottle.
