BioLite makes some of the coolest, most high-tech camp stoves and lighting solutions we’ve ever seen. So it means a lot to say that their newest release, the FirePit, might actually be the best thing they’ve ever created. It’s a tall order, we know, but it’s true.
First off, this portable device works as both a wood- and charcoal-burning hybrid campfire-grill – meaning you can use it to warm your hands or cook some burgers. But – with a combination of a fan, a USB-rechargeable Powerpack, and 51 air jets – the FirePit creates virtually no smoke at all. This saves your eyes, lungs, and even stops stray embers from floating off into the likely too-dry woods. And the whole thing (from temperature to burn time) can even be controlled with your smartphone, thanks to Bluetooth connectivity and the included BioLite app. It even has a side-mounted USB port that acts as both a charging station and can power BioLite’s litany of campsite lights. Back the project on Kickstarter now starting at $199.
