Realistic haptic feedback is one of the next major frontiers in the ongoing quest to make video games more immersive, and the latest haptic vest from bHaptics — the Tactsuit X40 — is the most impressive example we’ve ever seen.
A 2021 CES Innovation Awards honoree, the bHaptics Tactsuit X40 features 40 individually controllable ERM motors that provide positional haptic feedback across your entire torso. Powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that offers up to 18 hours of playing time, the cross-platform X40 works with consoles, mobile games, PC, and VR. The vest offers Bluetooth connectivity for lag-free haptic feedback where applicable, and a wired connection where it isn’t. Also new is bHaptics’ smaller and lighter vest, the X16, which features — you guessed it — 16 vibrating motors. Either vest can be combined with the company’s Tactal haptic face cover and Tactosy haptic arm, hand, and foot sleeves for a complete full-body haptic experience that promises to completely change the way you game. The bHaptics Tactsuit X40 is available now for $499 on bHaptics’ website.
