Bern Debuts A Premium Handmade Carbon Fiber Snow Sport Helmet

For the last decade-and-a-half, Bern Helmets has been producing envelop-pushing helmets for the adventure and action sports spaces, though the Massachusetts-based manufacturer has now unveiled what is unequivocally its most substantial advancement to date with its new Carbon Watts Helmet.

Starting with the brand’s existing Watts helmet silhouette—Bern’s original visor helmet—the winter lid has been treated to a host of updates, the most significant of which is undoubtedly its shell construction. Requiring a full five days to produce a single helmet, the Carbon Watts is made by hand and features a carbon fiber shell that’s more than 10% lighter than a standard ABS plastic unit while affording more than eight-times its strength. ASTM F2040-certified for snow sport use, the helmet also boasts the life-saving MIPS system, while still retaining the regular Watts model’s premium liner, drop-in audio-ready ear pads, and a BOA lacing fitment system. Slated for a release just ahead of Christmas on December 23, 2020, the Bern Helmets Carbon Watts will be priced at $250.
