Even in its most base spec, the Bentley Bentayga is easily one of the most luxurious SUVs you can buy. However, if you’re looking to make the nearly 6,000-pound mammoth a bit more performance-oriented, Mulliner’s latest offering could very well be what you need.
After five years of collaboration with Bucci Composites, Bentley is launching what it claims to be the largest carbon fiber wheels in the world. Developed specifically for the Bentayga, they measure an enormous 22″ in diameter and save as much as 13lbs each when compared to traditional aluminum. And here’s the thing — though they might look like a mere aesthetic piece, they actually make for a marked upgrade when it comes to performance. That is, in addition to offering better impact resistance than alloys, they also improve the Bentayga’s steering agility and braking response thanks to the decrease in unsprung mass. Certified to rigorous TÜV (Technical Inspection Association) standards, they’re the first carbon wheels to pass with flying colors. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, Bentley even took them for a track day out on the Nürburgring. Pricing has yet to be announced, but we can’t imagine they’ll be cheap.
