Since its debut in 2017, Benchmade’s Bugout knife has quickly become one of the hottest folding designs in the EDC space, spawning a slew of variants in all manner of different sizes, materials, and colors. Suffice to say — if the OG isn’t up your alley, the Oregon City-based blade specialist is bound to have a rendition that’s right for you.
For the newest member of the Bugout family, Benchmade has treated the design to a top-of-line overhaul, with visual and functional updates from tip to tail. For instance, the 3.24” drop-point blade is made from CPM-S90V, a steel that’s both harder-wearing and also more corrosion-resistant than the CPM-S30V used in the standard knife. What’s more, it’s been given a milled carbon fiber handle with eye-catching blue accents taking the form of the thumb stud and the AXIS locking mechanism. At 2.02oz it comes in at just a hair heavier (up from 1.85oz), however, the added heft is well worth it when you consider the quality of the upgraded materials.
