For as much time as humans spend in and on lakes, rivers, and oceans, most of us hardly know what lurks beneath the surface. We don’t necessarily mean sharks and such, we mean the topography; the hills, the vegetation, the scary clumps of mud.

Below the Boat Wood Charts are laser-cut, hand-colored sheets of Baltic birch that feature the accurate visual depths of dozens of locations, from Cape Cod and Lake Tahoe to the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida Keys. Bathymetric charts (the underwater equivalent of a topographic map) are used to survey the surroundings, taking into account every deep channel and sharp drop-off that we’re all otherwise oblivious to.
