For more than a century, the basic design for wallets (bi-folds, tri-folds, and card-holders) went largely unchanged. However, the rise of the EDC space coupled with the proliferation of several innovative companies has given way to a slew of envelope-pushing cash and card carriers — one of the coolest and most clever of which is Bellroy’s new Flip Case wallet.
The Flip Case is built around a rugged RFID-protected polymer hardshell chassis design with magnetic trapdoor storage slots on either side of the wallet, with one intended to accommodate your main “priority” cards — i.e. a credit and/or metro card (or regular use cards) — and the other meant for up to six less frequently used cards (or four cards plus room for cash, with the two separated by a divider). Low-profile and sporting smoothed, round edges, the Flip Case’s polymer frame is adorned in an eco-tanned leather that’s produced in black, toffee, Basalt (dark blue), cobalt (light blue), and (British) racing green — all made to take on a patina over time. Backed by a three-year warranty, the Bellroy Flip Case wallet is available now, with pricing set at $89.
