Over three decades ago, a trio of Jewish boys from New York City pivoted from playing hardcore punk rock to hip-hop — eventually becoming one of the most important and influential acts of the genre ever to hit the stage. Now, in celebration of the group’s sophomore album from 1989, Paul’s Boutique, Adidas has teamed up with the Beastie Boys on a limited edition Americana sneaker.
It’s fitting that Adidas and the Beastie Boys would choose this particular shoe on which to collaborate, as it is also reflexive of the hip-hop trio’s influence on skateboard and graffiti culture. Boasting a fully-vegan upper crafted from canvas, a durable gum sole, and exclusive ‘Beastie Boys’ badging, these beautiful and iconic limited-edition sneakers were unveiled at the sneaker brand’s Beyond the Streets exhibition space in New York — which is as fitting a locale as any for such a release. Set for a release in retailers and the Beyond The Streets gift shop this Thursday, the 25th, these exclusive sneaks will sell for $85 a pair.
