Baume & Mercier Made A Stylish Auto Watch From Upcycled Skateboards

Swiss luxury watchmaker Baume et Mercier probably isn’t the first brand that comes to mind when you think of skateboarding, but that could change thanks to an inventive new watch from the Maison.

B&M teamed up with French Olympic skateboarder Aurélien Giraud to create the innovative Baume Skate – Aurélien Giraud Special Edition watch. The watch is made from upcycled skateboard parts, with a wood and aluminum case crafted from skate decks and a dial made of grip tape. The watch’s design was curated by Giraud, and it features a highly unusual display, a funky tag-and-button-adorned cotton strap, and numerous red and blue accents (the skater’s favorite colors). Powering the unique timepiece is a Sellita SW200 automatic movement that’s visible through the exhibition caseback beneath Giraud’s scrawled signature. A part of B&M’s Baume Collection that makes use of upcycled materials and unorthodox time displays, the Baume Skate is available now from Baume et Mercier for $1,550.
