In the exceptionally hot and dry summer months of August 1910, a massive fire – now known as “The Big Burn” – broke out along the border of Montana and Idaho. To help fight the unforgiving blaze, Forest Service Ranger Ed Pulaski led a team of 45 men through the blazing forest to offer help to the Idaho town of Wallace – losing men and forging their way through fire in the process. Now, the Pulaski Axe serves to honor him and his men’s bravery and courage in their deadly battle with Mother Nature.

Manufactured by Barebones Living, the Pulaski Axe comes complete with a 1055 carbon steel split blade and a 1/3” solid steel core through the axe’s handle. Its heavy-duty blade is also weighted and boasts a wide angle for easy slicing, while at the opposite end a steel pommel helps you slice and dice roots and dig with ease. The entire piece weighs in at 5.55 pounds, features a beech wood handle, and measures in at 24 inches long by 12 inches wide. It’s no doubt Pulaski himself would approve. Available now.

Purchase: $135
