BANZAI Is Releasing A Limited Reissue Of Its Legendary 1970s Skateboard

Originally launched in 1976 — the same year the world’s first skatepark was constructed in Carlsbad, California — BANZAI Skateboards was a legendary skate company that produced anodized aluminum decks that were some of the first to employ a double kicktail design. Beloved by SoCal skate and surf enthusiasts of the era, the company has now decided, 44 years after its inception, to reissue its classic Series #01 board.

Offered in five different fully-anodized colors and in two sizes — 23.5” and 28.5” — this new reproduction will be limited to just 50 units of each color and size. The boards are equipped with urethane (85a softness) 59mm wheels paired with ceramic bearings, and carbon steel “X-Calibre” trucks, all mounted with stainless steel hardware throughout. And, in addition to being color-anodized, the aluminum decks are also given a unique brushed treatment that enables them to provide solid grip without the use of modern grip-tape. Each of the boards is being sold in a special limited edition box, complete with foam recesses for the deck, wheels, bearings, trucks, and the board’s included skate multi-tool and leather tool case. Available now, pricing for the BANZAI Skateboard Series #01 starts at $547 for the medium (23.5”) board and goes up to $635 for the large (28.5”) version.
