While most of us know Bang & Olufsen for its premium audio equipment, what few people realize is that the Dutch sound specialist has been making top-notch televisions for quite some time. In fact, it was B & O’s aptly named “Television” that first brought the TV to Denmark in the 1950s. And while few Danes were interested in the product, it goes without saying that Bang & Olufsen’s tech is among the most highly desired in the industry today.
With the announcement of the all-new Beovision Contour TV, Bang & Olufsen is set to introduce one of the few existing 48″ OLED TVs on the market. As an all-in-one visual and sound experience, it pairs the latest in LG’s OLED display technology with a 550W soundbar. In practice, this means that it offers 4k resolution in addition to compatibility with HDMI 2.1 and Dolby Vision IQ. And when it comes to the audio provisions, Bang & Olufsen has borrowed features from the Beosound Stage, including its 3-channel 11-speaker system replete with four 4-inch bass units. Top it off with support for Apple Airplay 2, Google Chromecast, and various other music apps, and you have a capable TV that’s also a handsome design piece. Available for $5,900 come February 2021.
